About Edwin McCook

Edwin McCook

Edwin grew up in Suwannee County and spent his early years fishing, swimming and hunting on and along the Suwannee River. Today he spends his time as a land manager, photographer/naturalist and guide in Natural North Florida.

His real job is Land Management Specialist for the Suwannee River Water Management District, where he coordinates the public use of District lands. His many responsibilities include planning and building hiking, bicycling, equestrian and multi-use trails. One of his proudest accomplishments is working as the District's project manager for the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail (SRWT).

In his spare time he is a professional landscape and nature photographer as well as a guide for hikes, paddling trips on local rivers and bicycle tours. He has led hikes and paddling trips for the Florida Trail Association, Suwannee Bicycle Association and other local groups. Most recently, he helped plan and coordinate the Suwannee River Wagon Train - a three week mule and wagon trip along the Suwannee River. The trip began at the Okefenokee Swamp and finished at the Town of Suwannee at the Gulf of Mexico.

Edwin is an active member of First Baptist Church, Suwannee Chapter of the Florida Trail Association, Suwannee Bicycle Association and the Branford Camera Club.
